“There’s gonna be a thing where every month I’m gonna have a specific flavor just in this shop that’s dedicated to something like Dawsonville, the Hawks, the Falcons, the soccer team, locals, local kids,” Patel said. Patel said that once his store is up and running, he has several ideas of how to improve and grow it further. In addition to the rolled ice cream, Sweet Charlie’s will also offer waffles, donuts, coffee, milkshakes, ice cream cones, soft-serve ice cream and ice cream cookie sandwiches. “The base is what makes the taste so good, cause it’s fresh, coming twice a week from a farm, and that’s what makes us different from anyone else.”Īccording to Patel, once his staff gets the hang of making the ice cream rolls turnaround time for an order should be about two minutes or less. “We try to cater to all types of customers the ones that have diabetes, the ones that can’t eat sugar, high blood pressure, all that stuff,” Patel said. The ice cream base is delivered fresh twice a day directly from a local farm and comes in several options including nonfat frozen yogurt and vegan ice cream. “So you can get the cinnamon toast with the strawberries or the brownie bites with the birthday cake - you can really make it your own.” “You can customize your ice cream as well these are just our main flavors that the most customers request, but anything that you see in there you can mix and match,” Patel said. Sweet Charlie’s will offer several of the most popular flavor options as the shop’s standards, but Patel said that something else that makes the shop unique is that everything is completely customizable. “Dawson County is an up-and-coming community it’s still being developed and the outlets pull in a lot of business so I feel like there’s a lot of tourists coming to shop there that would come in here for dessert.” “I was running the store by myself anyway, so I said why not just try to open my own and be my own boss,” Patel said. Patel used to manage a Sweet Charlie’s location in Warner Robins, but he said that since he’d been managing the other location of the franchise and was comfortable with the concept, he decided to take the leap and open his own location in Dawson County. Now, a year later, Patel is finally ready to bring delicious rolled ice cream to Dawson County. If Donuts are more your jam, we have ideas for you for those too.Sweet Charlie's was originally supposed to open last summer, but with the COVID-19 pandemic and other complications, the opening was unable to happen.
